Musician Walks Back Comment About Wanting Donald Trump Dead

Kyle Gass apologized for a weekend remark about Donald Trump's assassination attempt.

Gass is a member of Tenacious D with Jack Black, and the group is facing serious criticism after the former made a joke about Trump surviving a weekend assassination attempt.

During a show in Sydney, Black presented Gass with a birthday cake and asked for a wish. He responded with, "Don’t miss Trump next time."

Kyle Gass apologizes for comment about assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

The comment caused Jack Black to suspend the group's tour, and Gass has now also apologized for his incredibly stupid comment.

"The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don't condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I'm incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgment. I profoundly apologize to those I've let down and truly regret any pain I've caused," Gass wrote Tuesday on Instagram.

As I said when he initially made the comment, I try to never judge anyone if they're attempting to make a joke, but in our current climate, it's impossible to know if he was actually joking or not. One attendee died, two more were wounded and a Trump was clipped in the ear when gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire.

Our country came within a quarter of an inch of being unrecognizable when the sun came up Sunday. It's nothing short of a miracle that Trump is alive, and it's absolutely not a joking matter at all. A great family man is dead, and the Republican nominee for President nearly had his skull blown apart in front of the country.

Gass and anyone else talking about how it's too bad Crooks missed should be ashamed of themselves. Unfortunately, he's not alone in his conduct. I saw people literally celebrating when news broke that Trump had been shot.

It's gross behavior.

If you find yourself talking about how you want a politician dead, take a deep breath, put the phone down and go outside to touch some grass. It's not necessary or smart at all. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
