Kirsti Noem Event Canceled Over Alleged Threats Following Dog Killing Scandal

An event slated to feature Kristi Noem has been canceled because of alleged threats.

The South Dakota Governor has become arguably the most hated politician in America after she revealed in an upcoming book that she executed her 14-month-old dog Cricket.

Cricket allegedly was bad at hunting, mauled some chickens and got aggressive with Noem. For that, the female dog was shot in a gravel pit and a goat was killed by Noem shortly after Cricket's bloody death.

People are livid. In fact, I'm not sure there are words to describe how upset people are with the SD Governor. She went from being one of the most loved Republicans in America to being an outcast. It's a stunning fall from grace.

She's not even able to go to events without alleged problems popping up. A fundraising dinner for the Jefferson County Republican Party in Denver, Colorado scheduled for Saturday with Noem "has been canceled because of safety concerns," according to the Denver Post.

Party Chair Nancy Pallozzi made it clear in a statement that Noem was invited long before her admission about killing her dog became national news, according to the same report.

The Jefferson County Republican Party claims "numerous threats and death threats have been made," including a voicemail about people having guns.

"We understood there was a planned organized protest outside of the hotel, led by Progress Now. I felt that our event would be negatively impacted, and we could not take the risk that those who made threats would cause physical harm," Pallozzi explained.

Whether the threats were serious or not, I'm sure the Jefferson County Republican Party isn't sad about not having to associate with Noem. She would literally be more popular if she claimed she killed a person over a poorly trained 14-month-old dog.

As I said Thursday, I spoke to a veterinarian and hunter about German Wirehaired Pointers - the breed of dog Noem killed - and it was made clear the dogs are literally trained to kill animals. It's wired into them. They require intense training. Cricket clearly never received the proper training and it got her a bullet.

I have no idea what Noem will do from here, but at this point, the hole might be far too big to dig out of. My guess is she's cooked politically, and she only has herself to blame. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
