Rap Star Arrested During Grammy Awards: VIDEO

Rap star Killer Mike was arrested Sunday night at the Grammy Awards.

Video surfaced of Killer Mike - who won three Grammys - being escorted out of the ceremony in handcuffs by police, but little to no information was available about the video.

Was he being detained? Arrested? Was something else going on?

Well, more information is out about the stunning footage of Killer Mike being taken away after the LAPD released a statement late Sunday night.

The police announced the rap legend "was placed under arrest and was transported to LAPD Central Division" on a misdemeanor battery charge in connection with an alleged altercation shortly prior to the awards ceremony officially starting.

Furhter specific details of the alleged altercation don't appear to be known at this time, and the situation remains developing.

All we know for sure is the video set the internet on fire with speculation, and it's now been confirmed Killer Mike was hit with a criminal charge after an alleged altercation.

The timing couldn't have come at a worse time. The Atlanta-based talent appeared on Bill Maher's show Friday, won three Grammy Awards Sunday and was taken away in handcuffs on a misdemeanor battery charge.
