Kevin Costner Pushing For Major 'Yellowstone' Change: REPORT
Kevin Costner reportedly is pushing for a return to "Yellowstone."
The belief has been for a long time that Costner's time as John Dutton on the hit neo-Western from Taylor Sheridan was over following multiple behind-the-scenes issues.
Costner even hinted that the entire situation could end up in court. Everyone seemed to have gone their separate ways as Sheridan hammered out scripts for the ending.
Will Kevin Costner return to "Yellowstone"?
Well, it turns out Costner might not be done just yet. He's interested in returning, according to Puck.
Matthew Belloni reported the following in a recent report from Puck:
"As for the final episodes of Yellowstone O.G., they’re already written, and shooting is set to begin in a few weeks. Kevin Costner has been telling people he’s planning to return for at least a cameo and possibly more, but there are currently no discussions for him to do that. Even if Costner significantly lowers his financial and time commitment demands, Sheridan may not want to bother reopening his finished scripts to accommodate a send-off for John Dutton. But the Yellowstone fans would certainly love it, which Costner knows and hopes to leverage, as he always does."
While Costner might be pushing for a return, I'm not sold at all that it's going to happen. Sheridan seemed to have moved on a long time ago.
I'm not saying he shouldn't leave the door open, but Sheridan is notorious for doing things his own way. After all the drama, does anyone really expect him to welcome Costner back with open arms?
Remember, season five was supposed to return summer 2023. It's now late March 2024, and the show won't return until November. It's possible season five also won't end until a couple months into 2025. The delays have been nothing short of infuriating for fans.
We'll see how it all shakes out, but I'm definitely not holding my breath that Costner returns. As for the scripts nearing being done, I couldn't be happier. It's about time the ball got rolling. Let's buckle for an epic return in November, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
