Kevin Costner Career Update Is Bad News For 'Yellowstone' Fans

It's starting to look like a guarantee Kevin Costner has said his last lines as John Dutton on "Yellowstone."

There's been nonstop drama surrounding Costner, Taylor Sheridan and the future of the hit neo-Western series. While nobody has come out and said there's zero percent chance fans will ever see the face of the show return, it definitely looks like it's certainly very unlikely Costner returns for the rest of the final season.

Unless some bridges get mended on all sides, I think fans are just going to have to accept closing out season five with John Dutton likely being killed off-screen.

However, some have continued to hold out hope for a Costner return and a proper ending. It might be time to let that hope go.

Kevin Costner announces production on latest "Horizon: An American Saga" film.

One of the biggest issues allegedly between Costner and Sheridan was the fact the star actor wanted time to film his new "Horizon: An American Saga" western films. The first two films come out this summer, and the early word is that it's going to be an incredible ride.

The trailer certainly indicates it's going to be an epic Western journey.

If fans thought Costner might have some free time to pop over to the "Yellowstone" set, they're probably going to be very disappointed with his latest career update.

He announced a few days ago on Instagram that the third film in the saga is currently in production. Cameras are rolling. That's great news for the film series, but not for "Yellowstone" fans.

It seems borderline impossible for Kevin Costner to be filming an entire movie over the summer and still find a way to return to "Yellowstone."

Keep in mind that Costner and Sheridan don't seem to have much mutual love for the idea for a return. It's unclear either wants it to happen. Unless they both agree, it's guaranteed to not happen. The "Yellowstone" creator is calling the shots, and seemed to move on a long time ago.

I hope "Horizon: An American Saga" is as epic as it's hyped considering the role it might have played in Costner leaving "Yellowstone." Let me know your thoughts on the situation at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
