Kenny Pickett's Wife Amy Is 'Excited And Grateful' For The Quarterback's Trade To The Eagles
Kenny Pickett’s time as the heir apparent to Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh has come to an end. The first-round pick of the Steelers in the 2022 draft was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles last week.
He apparently wasn't pleased with the arrival of Russell Wilson, who signed with the team as a free agent and is the expected starter. The prospects of trying to take the job from the Super Bowl winning quarterback and the probability of serving as his backup meant it was time to go.
What a difference a few months makes. Back in August, the 25-year-old quarterback was the Steelers starter headed into the start of the regular season and was coming off of a perfect preseason.
Now he's in Philly sitting behind Jalen Hurts after becoming one of the many quarterbacks who have changed teams during a crazy off-season of action. The last few months in Pittsburgh saw him lose his job to an injury then have it taken by a big-name free agent.
All that drama is behind him now and nobody is more excited about him moving on than his wife Amy. She sat back, watched it all play out, then hopped right on social media after the deal to send Pickett to Philadelphia was done. That doesn't sound like the moves of a backup to me.
Amy Pickett Is All In As A Philadelphia Eagle
Amy got the social media celebration started, complete with exclamation points for emphasis and a version of let's go birds, by saying "Could not be more excited and grateful!! Skooooo!!"
There was no more of a veteran move than what she did next. She followed that up with "Looking forward to our next chapter. All love."
That's putting a city in the rearview. Kenny said his own goodbyes to the city of Pittsburgh on Instagram. He said, "Thank you, Pittsburgh! I came to this city 7 years ago and my life changed forever. Grateful for all of the amazing people I was fortunate enough to cross paths with, and for all of those who supported me along the way."
"I made life-long friendships and relationships that I will always cherish. Now, I am honored and excited for the next opportunity in my career - being able to play for the team that helped me find my love for the game as a kid. Go Birds!!"
There's something about that Go Birds that reminds you that life comes at you fast. One minute you're all black and yellow, the next you're dropping Go Birds.
