Joy Reid Implies Attempted Assassination of Donald Trump Was Staged
Forget turning down the temperature, MSNBC host Joy Reid has used the attempted assassination of Donald Trump to remind viewers that she is the most loathsome pundit on television.
And with the ladies from "The View" and Joe Scarborough, the competition for said title is stiff.
Reid started the week, for which she is co-anchoring the network's coverage of the Republican National Convention, by suggesting Trump "bore the consequences" of "promoting" violence during a discussion about the assassination attempt.
"Political violence … it's so dangerous that you cannot avoid the consequences of it, even if you're one of the people promoting it," Reid said about the shooting.
Now, she has "questions."
Err, whatever you call the following rant she posted the social media service Threads:
"I have many questions! 🙋🏾Like where are the medical reports? What caused Trump’s injury and what was the injury? Sheapnel? Glass? A bullet? Where were the three attendees who were shot seated or standing relative to Trump? Why was Trump allowed to stand and pose for photos, fist pumping for nearly ten seconds while asking about his shoe when there could easily havs been additional shooters? How did the gunman manage to get on the roof of the building WHERE THE LOCAL POLICE WERE LITERALLY INSIDE?"
"More questions: does it make sense that a 17 year old who three years later is a member of a far right gun group donated to any political organization, let alone @actblueorg??? Has the organization verified that? And where is this supposed ladder? Did he seriously bring a five foot ladder with him and his AR? Really? And why haven’t authorities released information about all three civilian victims, including a schematic of where they were standing or sitting?"
As Fox News contributor Joe Concha notes, Reid continues to imply that the assassination attempt was staged – which would mean Corey Comperatore was murdered as part of a political stunt.
Such an implication is unfathomably irresponsible for someone leading the coverage of one of the Big 3 networks in cable news. We are all for questions. We support questions. A journalist has a fundamental responsibility to show curiosity and ask tough questions.
But Joy Reid is not asking questions. Rather, she's framing ugly propaganda as "asking questions."
See, fact-checkers, liberal fact-checkers even, already debunked the teleprompter theory Sunday.
Per Snopes:
The assertion that glass, not a bullet, caused the injury is undercut by the fact that photographs show no damage to the teleprompters allegedly hit to produce the broken glass, by a New York Times photograph capturing a bullet passing by Trump's ear, and by the fact that Trump later stated, on Truth Social, that a bullet had, in fact, pierced his ear:
Trump's description of his wound matches photographs of his ear after he was hit, prior to being removed from stage. The two circles below, added by Snopes, highlight two areas that appear to show torn skin:
Yet, here's Reid suggesting glass struck Trump's ear, three days later.
OutKick asked MSNBC if the network had a comment on Reid pushing an already-debunked narrative. The network did not respond. We will update this story if it does.
Reid is the second MSNBC personality to ask those "questions" in as many days. Earlier Wednesday, network contributor and former Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele also suggested the shooting was staged.
It's not even clear what difference it'd make if Trump were hit by a piece of glass and not a bullet. Nonetheless, he was not.
Meanwhile, NBC News, which shares common ownership with MSNBC, still hasn't responded to an OutKick inquiry about why the network did not fact-check Joe Biden on Monday when he repeated both the "very fine people" and "bloodbath" hoaxes during his sit down with Lester Holt.
In case you didn't know, there's not much accountability across various NBC divisions. Facts are, evidently, very optional.
And Reid is the company's most egregious offender. Earlier this month, she uploaded a cringe-looking-and-sounding TikTok video in which she manically begged her followers not to allow "Hitler" back in the White House.
Again, if she is going to spew such hateful rhetoric, she should at least wear a wig. We can't take her seriously otherwise. That and her commentaries are drenched in falsehoods.
Only in America could such a disgusting buffoon host a primetime television program for millions of dollars per year.
