Joy Reid Claims Biden's Economy Is Better Than Trump's, Has No Facts To Back It Up
Prepare to lose some brain cells. Joy Reid opened her mouth again.
The co-host of "The View" decided to talk economics on today’s episode of the progressive television show. During the segment, Reid stated that Americans should be thankful for the current state of our economy, especially when compared to what we experienced under Trump.
"On the facts, the economy is far better than it was under Donald Trump," Reid said.
I’m not sure if she’s remembering that time frame correctly. But hey, when you’re in the middle of a progressive tirade, don’t let reality get in your way (we'll examine that claim in a minute).
Reid continued, stating that Trump’s handling of the COVID pandemic caused Americans to lose money and even die.
"He was hit with one big crisis, and he flubbed it so thoroughly, we were at 14 percent unemployment," Reid said. "A million people died because of him. And yet you have people saying," I had more money, I was richer under Trump." Not true, not possible."
Did your IQ level stay the same? If so, good for you. Mine probably dropped a few points just listening to her calling the stimulus check "the stimmy."
Even The Washington Post Doesn't Support Reid's Claim
Reid seems pretty convinced that it’s, and I quote, "not possible" that Americans experienced more financial prosperity under Trump. She said "the facts" prove her stance as unequivocally true.
But not even her woke friends in journalism would agree with her. One of the most progressive media companies in America - The Washington Post - found that the numbers for economic performance strongly favor Trump.
The Post released an article in December 2023 comparing several key economic factors between the Trump and Biden administrations. In their study, they found that, under Trump:
- Gas prices were lower
- Prices of houses were lower
- Inflation was much lower
- Interest rates were lower
- There was less student loan debt
- Americans felt better about the state of the economy
Well, would you look at that, the facts once again proved a liberal wrong!
Even in some of the areas where Biden outperformed Trump, that's mostly due to a comparison to recession numbers. For example, the rate of new jobs created spiked from 2021-2023. But that’s because Americans primarily recovered the jobs they lost in the pandemic; they didn't necessarily create new ones. This shows that even in the areas where Biden has outperformed Trump, some of his "success" is deceiving.
Reid’s unemployment rate argument doesn’t add up either. Sure, we had a 14 percent unemployment rate…during a nationwide lockdown.
What do you think is going to happen when businesses shut down and can’t earn enough money to stay afloat? Oh, by the way, progressives were the ones who championed the lockdowns and restrictions that wiped out lots of businesses and jobs. Leftists "flubbed" the response more than Trump did.
I told you it was going to be rough listening to Reid talk. But good for you for sticking it out, and hopefully you didn't lose all of your brain cells in the process.
