Senator Makes Troubling Claims About Trump's Secret Service Protection At Shooting

Senator Josh Hawley made some incredibly disturbing and troubling claims about Donald Trump being shot.

Trump is lucky to be alive after Thomas Matthew Crooks shot him in the ear during a campaign event. The Republican nominee for President came within a fraction of an inch of losing his life.

One of the biggest questions from people has been how a 20-year-old loser managed to outsmart the Secret Service to get multiple clean shots off on Trump.

Hawley claims he has information from a whistleblower to suggest many people guarding Trump weren't Secret Service at all.

Josh Hawley releases letter alleging massive failures during Trump assassination attempt.

The Republican Senator from Missouri released the letter Friday morning, and the allegations in it are beyond disturbing.

"Whistleblower allegations suggest the majority of DHS officials were not in fact USSS agents but instead drawn from the department's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). This is especially concerning given that HSI agents were unfamiliar with standard protocols typically used at these types of events, according to the allegations," Hawley wrote in a letter released Friday morning addressing the whistleblower claims.

The letter also alleges whistleblowers described it as a "loose" security situation that lacked dogs, proper security around the podium and didn't have officers "stationed at regular intervals around the event's security perimeter."

Hawley is demanding to know how many agents there were HSI rather than USSS and if so, why were HSI agents pulled and not USSS to beef up security. He also wants to know the type of training the HSI agents received and if gaps existed, among other questions. You can read his full letter in the tweet below, and send me your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

If the allegations made by Hawley are accurate, then the government has a lot of questions to answer. How is it possible that HSI agents - not Secret Service agents - would be used to backfill any open spots that might have existed in the detail?

It's a stunning allegation, and the government should release any and all information it has in order to put an end to speculation and conspiracy theories.

People deserve to know the truth, and they deserve to get it quickly. Donald Trump was almost murdered, and the world we would have woken up to Sunday would have been much different if Crooks hadn't missed. It was a failure of horrific and unacceptable levels.

We'll continue to update our readers here at OutKick as more information rolls in, and definitely let me know your thoughts on the shooting at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
