Jon Snow 'Game Of Thrones' Spinoff Hit With Horrible Update

"Game of Thrones" fans can stop expecting HBO to make a Jon Snow spinoff.

The network famous for making "GoT" has been working on a spinoff starring Kit Harington as the lead character from the legendary series, and there's been whispers for seemingly years about how it might shake out.

Well, it was recently reported that it was unlikely to happen, and fans can officially stick a pin in the idea after speculation the spinoff with Harington was speeding in the wrong direction.

Jon Snow "Game of Thrones" spinoff not happening at HBO.

Following whispers that the show wasn't dead on arrival after failed development, star Kit Harington has now officially confirmed it's not happening…..for now.

Harington told Screen Rant the following about the status of the series:

"I hadn't really ever spoken about it, because it was in development. I didn't want it leaked out that it was being developed, and I didn't want the thing to happen where people kind of start theorizing, getting either excited about it or hating the idea of it, when it may never happen. Because in development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it's worth it.

And currently, it's not. Currently, it's off the table, because we all couldn't find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It's firmly on the shelf."

This is a very unfortunate update.

I've never read the "Game of Thrones" books, but I'm a big fan of the television universe created by George R.R. Martin's work.

"GoT" was amazing (minus a terrible ending) and "House of the Dragon" is one of the best shows on TV over the past several years.

It seems like HBO can't miss when it comes to "Game of Thrones" content, and running things back with Harington as Jon Snow just makes a lot of sense. The backstory already exists, the characters already exist and seeing Jon live north of where the wall was again with the good guys in control would have been a lot of fun.

I truly don't understand how HBO wasn't able to develop a story that worked. It just doesn't make a ton of sense.

Now, the door still does sound slightly cracked open for it to happen at some point down the road. Let's hope it does, because I think it would be awesome. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
