John Tesh To Remake Classic NBA on NBC Theme Song As Network Bids For League Games

John Tesh is in talks to recreate his classic "Roundball Rock" theme song that is synonymous with an entire generation of NBA fans that heard it weekly when NBC had rights to NBA games.

You all know the song I'm talking about.

Dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun, Do-Do-Doooo-Do-Bennn-Ben-Ben. (Just sing it out loud, I swear it'll make sense) Hearing that song will immediately launch someone back to the 90's with Marv Albert on the call screaming about Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, Magic Johnson and the other greats. And now it's coming back - with a twist!

JOHN TESH'S ROUNDBALL ROCK AIRED FOR YEARS ON NBC'S NBA COVERAGE

When asked on The Dan Le Batard Show whether NBC has reached out to him regarding bringing back his Roundball Rock theme song, the iconic piano artist said "they have, actually."

"It’s nothing firm. But they said, ‘Hey can you stay frosty on this? (Frosty is a Navy Seals term for readiness) because we’d love to talk to you about this." Tesh added that the two parties are currently in talks right now as far as licensing and ownership rights and that he plans on traveling to Nashville to re-record the song in the coming weeks with a full orchestra.

NBC is also expected to use it for its basketball coverage for the upcoming Paris Olympics in July.

NBC IS GOING ALL OUT FOR THE NBA

NBC has reportedly offered $2.5 billion for a package of games that would include both regular and postseason games. They are currently in a bidding war against Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) which also owns TNT and the popular Inside the NBA program for the games. ESPN and Amazon will broadcast the other national NBA games.

Ultimately, it may come down to this:

John Tesh vs Charles Barkley and Shaq.

Who will the NBA choose?
