J.K. Rowling Brilliantly Trolls Transgender Soccer Coach, Left Cries ‘Cruelty’
J.K. Rowling does not miss.
The best-selling author continues her crusade against extreme gender ideology, this time taking aim at a trans-identifying male soccer coach.
PRIDE UK, an LGBTQ advocacy group, made a post on Twitter / X on Saturday celebrating Lucy Clark — "the world's first openly transgender referee" — who was recently promoted to manager of Sutton United, a professional soccer club in South London. The post touts Clark as "the first trans manager in the top 5 divisions of English women's football."
Rowling commented: "When I was young all the football managers were straight, white, middle-aged blokes, so it's fantastic to see how much things have changed."
Sutton United appointed the 51-year-old as the new manager of its women's team in January. And Clark is, in fact, a straight, white, middle-aged bloke. Publicly coming out as transgender in 2018, Clark is married to a woman.
But, of course, Rowling ruffled some extremist feathers with her acknowledgment of reality. So The Daily Mail then published a story, with the social media caption: "JK Rowling is accused of cruelty as she mocks transgender football manager by comparing her to a ‘straight, white, middle-aged bloke.’"

And Rowling doubled down: "I didn't compare him to one. He IS one."
The coach chimed in, too.
"Another day of hate fuelled transphobia against me… but hey guess what I am living my best life," Clark wrote. "…So JK, Posie [Parker], Glinner [Graham Linehan] and the rest of you out there hating on my community and myself guess what IDGAF…you keep hating and I will keep on smiling and living my best life. Maybe you should all give it a try eh."
But Rowling isn't being hateful or cruel. She's just stating facts: Individuals are free to live how they want to live. But a man cannot become a woman.
And J.K. Rowling is not apologizing.
"Calling a man a man is not 'bullying' or 'punching down,'" Rowling wrote on Sunday. "Crossdressing straight men are currently one of the most pandered-to demographics in existence, and women are under no obligation to applaud the people caricaturing us."
