Jimmy Kimmel Sparks Outrage With Completely Vanilla Joke During The Oscars

Jimmy Kimmel is the internet's newest target because he had the audacity to crack a joke during the Oscars.

Kimmel hosted the Oscars Sunday night and touched on the fact "Killers of the Flower Moon" has an outrageous runtime of nearly three and a half hours.

The film about the murder of Osage Nation murders is honestly incredibly boring and ripe to be dragged. That's exactly what Kimmel did Sunday night.

"There were so many great movies that held audiences captive this year. And I mean that literally — your movies were too long this year. The average length of the top 10 movies was 2 hours and 33 minutes. That’s up 30 minutes from three years ago. When I went to see ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,' I had my mail forwarded to the theater. Killers of the Flower Moon' is so long in the time it takes you to watch it, you could drive to Oklahoma and solve the murders yourself," Kimmel joked during his monologue.

Jimmy Kimmel faces backlash over "Killers of the Flower Moon" joke.

Naturally, the internet can be a very dumb place, and that was on full display after his joke about the film's runtime and being able to solve the murders in the same amount of time.

The second tweet above has been liked more than 29,000 times. What an absolutely insane world we live in. I can't believe I have to defend Jimmy Kimmel, but here we are.

Kimmel's job as the host is to make jokes. Now, some might land better than others, but it's the attempt that matters. If we can't joke around during awards shows, then we're truly lost as a society.

To be clear, I think Jimmy Kimmel is a cringe clown that stopped being watchable sometime around when Donald Trump ran for President in 2015.

Yet, I get paid to call balls and strikes, and only a braindead person could be offended by this joke. The movie is 206 minutes long, and it's not even entertaining minus the past hour. Yes, real people died, but what does that have to do with the joke?

People died in WWII, and I've heard plenty of hilarious jokes tied to the war. The idea that jokes about "Killers of the Flower Moon" are off-limits is just insane.

Joke about whatever you want, laugh or don't and move on if you don't like it. There was literally nothing wrong with what Kimmel said. I might not like the guy, but we can't let people get dragged for nonsense like this. Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com if you agree.
