What happens if an American pilot is shot down in a war?

It's a question I'm sure many people interested in history and warfare have wondered about. Is there a rescue team on standby? Is the pilot on his own? Does he hide and evade?

Well, buckle up because I had the opportunity to ask former F-16 pilot Jason Cooper on American Joyride what might happen if a pilot gets shot down. Whether it's the PJs or some other QRF element, the good guys will do what they can. He also shared an incredible story about his buddy who had to punch out during the war in Iraq.
