Jackson Mahomes' Sexual Assault Court Case Delayed - Again
A preliminary hearing in the Jackson Mahomes sexual assault case that was scheduled for Tuesday has been delayed, again, according to court records.
Mahomes, who faces three felony aggravated sexual battery charges for an incident with an Overland Park, Kansas restaurant owner, will instead have his lawyers in court for a scheduling conference to determine a new preliminary hearing date. The brother of Patrick Mahomes is currently out of jail on a $100,000 bond.
The preliminary hearing was originally supposed to happen in August, but the judge in the case came down with COVID, which caused the court to delay the hearing to Tuesday, but now Mahomes' defense attorney has asked for a continuance, according to the Kansas City Star.
In Kansas, preliminary hearings are only set in felony cases. Judge Thomas M. Sutherland from the Tenth Judicial District in Kansas will determine at the hearing if there's enough evidence to require Mahomes to stand trial on the felony charges.
Aspen Vaughn, the restaurant owner who says Mahomes grabbed her and forcibly kissed her, claims she was told by Jackson to, "Not tell anyone." She further claimed that Jackson wouldn't let her leave the room where the alleged assault took place until she gave him a hug.
The alleged assault was caught on surveillance video:
In February 2022, Jackson Mahomes was also caught on video trying to kiss a blonde woman in Las Vegas only to be denied. The woman, who was wearing an "It's my F--king Birthday" sash, pulled away as Mahomes grabbed her by the back of the head.
