Jack Black Cancels Tour Over Bandmate's Trump Assassination Attempt Comment

Actor and musician Jack Black has announced that his band, Tenacious D, will be postponing their current tour dates as well as pause all future music endeavors after Tenacious co-founder Kyle Gass wished that former President Donald Trump was actually killed during Saturday's assassination attempt.

JACK BLACK CANCELS ALL TENACIOUS D SHOWS, PUTS BAND ON HIATUS

"I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form," the 54-year-old Black said. "After much reflection, I no longer fel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding."

Black and Tenacious D have faced immense criticism after bandmate Kyle Gass was celebrating his birthday on stage during Saturday night's concert when he made the disparaging comments about Trump.

After Gass was handed a birthday cake, Jack Black asked him what his birthday wish would be. "Don’t miss Trump next time," Gass responded, as some of the audience cheered.

However, not everyone found it funny. Jack Black and Tenacious D would soon find themselves trending on Twitter for all the wrong reasons after Gass's comment. Some Tenacious fans even said they would not support the band anymore, while some members of the Australian government called for the band to be immediately deported.

DEPORTED FROM AUSTRALIA?

"To advocate and or wish for the assassination of a president is egregious, disgusting, filthy, evil, and not acceptable in any way, shape, or form," United Australia Party Senator Ralph Babet wrote in a statement while also calling to revoke their visas immediately and to deport them. As we've seen with Australia in recent years - they don't play around when it comes to having an iron fist, just ask star tennis player Novak Djokovic - who was deported and banned from being able to play in the Australian Open for years because he refused to get the COVID vaccine.

We can all relate to being somewhere and one of our friends saying something inappropriate and absolutely mortifying, and you immediately look at them with daggers from your eyes. It doesn't help that Jack Black is a staunch Joe Biden supporter and recently participated in a major fundraiser for the President just a few weeks ago - the fact that the country is already so divided and then a celebrity affiliated with Biden's camp found themselves in this situation is less than ideal.

Although Black shouldn't be blamed for what Gass said, he could have immediately remedied the situation by saying "He's just kidding," or "Yeah, that wasn't cool Kyle," while on stage. It may have ruined the birthday celebration, but at least both Tenacious D members would still have a job.
