Italian Tennis Player & Lingerie Model Camila Giorgi Suddenly Retires From Tennis Without Saying A Word

It's a sad day for tennis.  True dual-threat Camila Giorgi has retired from the sport.  The 32-year-old Italian, who, in addition to playing tennis, is a lingerie model, didn't need a farewell tour to say goodbye.

She was still a professional tennis player as of Monday.  Then, on Tuesday, without a formal announcement or any kind of fanfare, her name popped up on the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s retired players list.

Giorgi, once looked at as the savior of the sport - from a content perspective anyway, had suddenly and quietly hung up her racket.  The fact that there was no formal announcement apparently isn't all that surprising.

She's known for letting her work with her racket, and lingerie, for that matter, do her talking for her.

Giorgi hasn't competed since the Miami Open back in March.  According to Tennis.com, she had slipped down in the WTA ranking to No. 116 and did not enter The French Open which takes place later this month.

Camila Giorgi Leaves The Sport Searching For Its Next Dual-Threat

Without an announcement, a move that I am completely in love with by the way, it's hard to tell what's next for Camila Giorgi.  Is she going to get into lingerie modeling full-time?  Is she going the Instagram model route?

These are questions that we just don't have the answers to at the moment.  What we do know is that she hasn't been all that active on social media this year.  In fact, Giorgi's last post was seven weeks ago from a random place in Miami according to the caption.

I'd like to think that's going to change and once she settles into retirement, she'll be firing off content left and right for her more than 725k Instagram followers.

With the pressures of trying to return to the form that earned her a career high ranking of No. 26 back in 2018 behind her, she can focus her time and energy on a solid retirement strategy - content.

The sport of tennis' loss is hopefully the world of content's gain.
