Iran University Offers Free Tuition For Expelled Pro-Hamas Students
An Iranian University is offering free tuition for any American students who were suspended or expelled for participating in their pro-Hamas protests across college campuses in recent weeks that have led to absolute disarray and chaos.
"Students and even professors who have been expelled or threatened with expulsion can continue their studies at Shiraz University and I think that other universities in Shiraz, as well as Fars Province, are also prepared," the University's Mohammad Moazzeni told Iranian state-owned "Press TV."
The move comes as thousands of pro-Hamas students have taken over college buildings and set up encampments that resulted in multiple schools having to adjust their graduation ceremonies - once again ruining graduation for students who four years ago weren't able to have one due to the Covid-19 shutdowns. The University of Southern California canceled their entire graduation ceremony scheduled later this month due to the campus protests.
PROTESTS HAVE GROWN ACROSS COLLEGE CAMPUSES
Iranian TV reportedly broadcast the students' protests and subsequent reactions from law enforcement across their own networks, according to the Associated Press.
It's unclear if Iran's Shiraz University's offer is only if American students travel and take classes within the country.
A word of advice for those that are considering it - just realize that Iran, like Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries, refuses to accept ANY Palestinian refugees. They've also publicly supported Hamas.
Also, Iran considers proponents of LGBTQ+ rights to be illegal - with the country having, "strong laws against the promotion of it." The penalty isn't just a desk appearance ticket like one may receive for protesting in New York City or Los Angeles - but rather, one could reportedly receive the death penalty.
OTHER STUDENTS ARE NOT HAPPY
Many parents and students that have not taken part in the demonstrations, needless to say, are not pleased, while others - including some Democratic politicians and elected officials like New York City Mayor Eric Adams, believe that the original students' protests have been taken over by outside factions that are hurting the original intentions of the demonstrations. New York City schools such as Columbia University had to have law enforcement intervene after taking over one of the campus buildings.
It's currently unclear if any expelled students have taken up Iran on their free tuition offer.
