Influencer Sentenced To 10 Months Of Hard Labor For Pretending To Tickle The Breast Of A War Statue
Vladimir Putin has proven that he's not too busy conducting military operations in Ukraine to go after models and influencers. In February, it was revealed that Ukrainian model Lolita Bogdanova had landed on Russia's international wanted list.
The 24-year-old's crime? A topless stunt she pulled in Moscow's Red Square in 2021 in front of St Basil's Cathedral. That's right, taking your top off means Putin is going to conduct an international manhunt.
While Bogdanova has managed to avoid being caught by Russian officials, and with any luck that will remain the case, a Russian influencer by the name of Alena Agafonova wasn't so lucky.
The 23-year-old was arrested earlier this year and charged with rehabilitation of Nazism, desecration of a burial site, and cynical actions that disregard the norms of morality, for posting a video of herself on social media last year.
In the video she pretends to tickle the breast of a statue named The Motherland Calls in Volgograd. It's an iconic war statue at the site of one of the most notorious battles of World War 2, which commemorates the heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad.
Agafonova faced a possible 5 years in prison. After she posted the video, and it received backlash, she fled to Sri Lanka.
When she attempted to return to Russia six months later, she was arrested. Here's the video that the Putin-led government deemed worthy of being arrested:
Russian Influencer Gets Hard Time And More For Seemingly Innocent Video
Talk about no sense of humor. That's a funny video and, according to a Russian court, reports The Sun, worthy of a "Rehabilitation of Nazism" conviction.
The Russian influencer was sentenced to 10 months of hard labor. She was released following the conviction but under the condition that she doesn't attempt to flee the country.
Agafonova has also been banned from using social media for two years, which seems like a punishment for her followers more than for her. As if all of that wasn't enough, she's also reportedly to hand over 10% of any future income she earns.
If she knew all of that was going to come after a few seconds of video in front of a statue, she wouldn't have done it. In a statement, she warned others, "I address all residents of Russia and Volgograd and ask everyone not to commit the acts I did last year because of my stupidity."
"I didn't even think that I could insult someone's feelings. I ask all Russian citizens for forgiveness."
Best of luck to Lolita Bogdanova, aka Lola Bunny, as she continues to hide out in California and any other models/influencers, for that matter, who are trying to make content out there.
If you get hit with hard labor, a social media ban, and 10% of your future earnings for this video, imagine what the price to pay is for going topless.
