Influencer Lives With A Cardboard Cutout Of Her Husband Because He’s In Prison, Where They Met As Pen Pals
What do you do when you fall for a prison pen pal? You marry them, obviously. Then, because they're locked up behind bars in prison, you live with a cardboard cutout of them. Again, obviously.
That's the life Jade Chipps, who has more than 100k Instagram followers, has chosen for herself. She met her husband, Chris, through a prison pen pal service back in 2017. By the next year, they were married.
The 31-year-old influencer got the idea to join the pen pal site from a show that featured a woman finding her husband using one of them. She told the Love Don't Judge podcast, "I saw a show where this lady was talking about how she met her husband from a pen pal page, so I decided to check it out."
Jade signed up, saw a picture of her future convict husband, started writing to him, then before you know it, they were talking on the phone and setting up an in-person meeting.
"We went back and forth with writing, and then we started talking on the phone, and then I flew and met him in person and the rest is history," she explained.
You know what they say, there's something about a man in uniform. That's evidently true even if the uniform is prison issued. Despite his more than 30-year sentence, these two are making it work.
While Chris serves 31 years, with a minimum of 10 years behind bars, for burglary and identity theft, Jade passes time between visits with a life-sized cardboard cutout of her husband.
Although there were some edits required because the two of them have never spent time with one another outside of a prison setting.

"I had my friend edit him and put him in a Hawaiian shirt because I don't have any selfies of Chris that are full body length without his inmate outfit," Jade said. "I put him in a Hawaiian shirt just to be funny, and then I put it in one of my TikTok videos."
The video went viral on the social media platform, where Jade had been receiving a lot of support from other prison wives. Sadly, the bullying from trolls outweighed the support, and she was forced to delete her TikTok account.
This prison wife might have had to delete her TikTok account, but she's optimistic about her future with Chris, who, in addition to being an inmate, just so happens to have a decent income from his stake in a casino.
She's confident that when he gets out and joins her in the home that he owns, and she's currently living in with his cardboard cutout, that he'll be a changed man. His life of crime will be behind him. He's learned from his mistakes.
"He's been in prison so long that I worry that maybe he’s institutionalized," Jade admits. "But he knows what he wants to do when he gets out. He wants to impregnate me right away."
There's clearly no reason to worry. So he might be a little institutionalized, and who knows what living with a cardboard cutout is doing to her?
Immediately having a kid is a wise decision. Think about the story of how mom and dad met that you get to tell. That puts a neat little bow on the entire situation.
