'House Of The Dragon' Returns With A Bang | REVIEW

"House of the Dragon" starts season two with a fire episode.

HBO's hit "Game of Thrones" prequel series returns for season two starting June 16th, and fans are unbelievably excited to get some new episodes.

Season one ended with the Targaryens led by Queen Rhaenyra and the Hightowers aligned behind Queen Alicent on the brink of war. The brutal killing of Rhaenyra's son Luke set the stage for plenty of further bloodshed.

Well, I was able to get an early look at the new season, and I'm happy to report it's not going to disappoint at all.

"Hosue of the Dragon" season two starts with a strong premiere.

HBO sent me a large chunk of season two to check out Thursday, and while I can't say much, I can say that fans are in for an absolutely awesome ride.

Season two picks up right where season one ended. War has arrived and Daemon is leading the charge for Rhaenyra's side as she grieves the horrific killing of her son.

Like any war, alliances must be formed, plans must be laid out and a strategy for attack must be devised. It's no different in the world of fantasy.

Fans expecting a ton of bloodshed right from the jump in the premiere might be thrown for a loop. It's more of a political thriller than it is an action series to get things rolling in season two.

I don't say that as a negative. It's definitely a positive, and I was hooked from the moment the opening credits rolled. Rhaenyra is in deep pain, but as queen, she has a war to fight that can't be slowed down by her grief. This is a point made clear by Daemon.

Having said that, there is a moment in the season two premiere that I didn't see coming at all. It's going to shock viewers on a level that they're definitely not ready for. This moment also sets the stage for the entire second season. I really can't say much more, but you'll know exactly what it is once you see it.

"House of the Dragon" returns June 16th on HBO. I can't wait for you all to enjoy the same journey I already have. It gets off to a very hot start, and I have no doubt momentum will remain high. Let me know your expectations for season two at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
