House of the Dragon is Getting Closer

House of the Dragon is the most anticipated upcoming TV series, bar none.

During WarnerMedia's 2021 release plan on Thursday, CEO Jason Kilar updated the world on the Game of Thrones prequel that's expected in 2022.

"Principal photography starts on the next Game of Thrones series, House of the Dragon… in a few months. Look out for dragons overhead!”

Even if you are still not over the ending of Thrones and never plan to be, Kilar's note should give you chills of excitement.

House of the Dragon will focus on the early stages of the Targaryen dynasty, set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Paddy Considine will star as the fascinating King Viserys Targaryen.

Thus far, the best news comes behind the scenes. Miguel Sapochnik will co-show-run the series with Ryan Condal. Sapochnik is the flashy director of GoT's most famous episodes: "Hardhome,” “Battle of the Bastards,” “The Winds of Winter,” “The Long Night,” and “The Bells.” Translation: expect major CGI use and high-level dragon battles.

In GoT, only three dragons exist. In HoD, based on George RR Martin's Fire & Blood, dragons are everywhere.

Thursday, HBO released teaser art of the show's dragons, which don't much mirror Daenerys':

There's speculation that the first dragon is Caraxes, who is eventually ridden by Prince Daemon Targaryen.

Okay, I'm officially thrilled. What do we watch until then? The Witcher?
