Home Run Derby National Anthem Singer Ingrid Andress Says She Was Drunk, Will Check Into Rehab
Country music singer Ingrid Andress went viral for all the wrong reasons prior to Monday night's Home Run Derby.
The four-time Grammy-nominated singer's rendition of the National Anthem was one of the worst of all-time. She broke her silence on Tuesday to reveal the reason behind her poor performance.
According to Ingrid, she was drunk. She made the revelation in a straight to the point post to her followers on social media where she made no excuses and said she planned to check herself into rehab.
"I'm not gonna bullshit y'all, I was drunk last night. I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need," she posted.
"That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I'll let y'all know how rehab is I hear it's super fun."
Country Music Singer Ingrid Andress Owned Her Poor National Anthem Performance
Props to Ingrid for owning it. Having a moment like that play out the way it did and go viral isn't an easy situation to navigate under the best of circumstances.
She could have blamed it on any number of things, then had her team run a smokescreen for her. The 32-year-old didn't do that.
Ingrid instead chose to own it and seek out the help she believes that she needs. Again, props to her for that. Hopefully, she gets the help she needs and bounces back better than ever.
In 2021, she was nominated for three Grammy Awards. One for best new artist, one for best country song for her hit More Hearts Than Mine and the third for best country album for her breakthrough album Lady Like.
Then, in 2023, Ingrid earned another Grammy nomination for her duet with Sam Hunt, Wishful Drinking.
