Help The City Of Savannah Vote On A Team Name For Their New ECHL Hockey Team

A month ago, the city of Savannah, Georgia announced that it was getting a new professional hockey team which would join the ECHL, an AA league that currently includes 26 teams across 26 states and two Canadian provinces.

The nickname of the new team - that remains to be seen.

Team officials announced that fans can have a say in what the nickname of the new team will be. All you have to do is click HERE to get on board with the "Name Your Team Contest."

The chance to submit a name will go for about the next month till March 16th, and the official name will be presented a few weeks after.

The new team is expected to debut during the 2022-2023 season at the Savannah Arena, which is currently under construction.

“This is like a baby hockey team. We can’t name this baby. We need Savannah to name it,” Team President Bob Ohrablo said.

"We’re all part of the same Savannah hockey family now, and we want all of your help in getting a name that really reflects Savannah and Savannah‘s culture. Then, when we go on the road, bringing the Savannah name along with the culture with us,”

Some of the current ECHL team names include the Indy Fuel, Tulsa Oilers and Fort Wayne Komets.

Even with no nickname yet, team officials say that the team is approaching 500 season ticket deposits for the fall 2022 season.
