HBO's 'Harry Potter' Series Gets Amazing Update, Expectations Soar

"Harry Potter" fans finally have a major update about the upcoming HBO series.

The powerhouse network is aiming to release a series based on the books written by J.K. Rowling at some point in 2026.

However, updates have pretty much been nonexistent since news was first announced that it was being made. You can't exactly tell Potter fans that series on the way, and then not say much afterwards. That's a great way to upset the fans.

Well, we finally have some news, and it's *OUTSTANDING.*

HBO finds leadership team for "Harry Potter" series.

After having enough information security to make the CIA envious, HBO finally announced the people tapped to run the series, and it's a home run situation.

"Succession" alums Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod will be leading the way. Gardiner will serve as the showrunner and executive producer. Mylod will also be an executive producer and direct several episodes.

Mylod has also directed episodes of "Game of Thrones" and "The Last of Us" on top of deep work on "Succession."

HBO found the A-team for its "Harry Potter" series, and if you're not amped up right now, then I'm guessing you don't know great entertainment when you see it.

"Succession" was one of the best shows ever made, and two people responsible for playing a major role in its success will now oversee "Harry Potter" for HBO. I'm ready to pop some bottles and celebrate.

What is known about the "Harry Potter" series?

While many details still remain under wraps, there is some information that is public about the ambitious series from HBO.

Rowling will play a significant role, it's likely it premieres in 2026 and old cast members won't be involved. Sorry to break the news to all the fans of Emma Watson (hand up!), but she's not coming back and neither is anyone else.

It's also believed every season will cover a specific book, but that appears to be unconfirmed at this point.

Make sure to keep checking back for any "Harry Potter" updates we might have as they come out, and definitely let me know your expectations for the series at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
