Greta Thunberg Arrested After Joining Pro-Hamas Rally Outside Of Eurovision Finale
For once, we have a news headline about Greta Thunberg that doesn’t involve her telling us that the world will end if we don’t stop climate change.
Thunberg was outside the Malmö Arena in Malmö, Sweden, which was hosting the grand final Eurovision, an annual songwriting contest held in several locations across Europe (think of it like that continent’s American Idol, but more prestigious).
But she wasn’t just there because she wanted to be near the musical festivities. There was a group of - you guessed it - pro-Hamas supporters outside Malmö Arena. Evidently, they were enraged that (gasp) an Israeli singer named Eden Golan was participating in the contest.
As such, they felt it was necessary to protest and vent their (unjustified) frustration outside the venue. And because Thunberg is a whack job, she joined in.
"I’m here to show we think it is outrageous and inexcusable for Eurovision to let Israel participate while committing a genocide," she said in an interview posted on X.
Eventually, authorities came by and put an end to the demonstrations. In the process, Thunberg was arrested.
This marks the third time this year that she’s been arrested for protesting, after she was detained twice by Dutch authorities in April when she protested against fossil fuels. I guess she just loves going behind bars!
Authorities had a solid day stopping pro-Hamas protesters on Saturday, as the NYPD arrested numerous terrorism supporters on the Manhattan Bridge earlier in the day.
