Former World Champion Speed Skater Says OnlyFans Saved Her Life

Former world champion and Team GB speed skater Elise Christie retired from the sport in 2021 when an ankle injury kept her from qualifying for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

She made headlines the following year when she announced that she had taken her talents to OnlyFans in an attempt to fund an Olympic comeback.  The reality of what led her to join the subscription-based platform was that she was working three jobs at the time and sleeping in her car.

The move has paid off for Christie financially and while talks of a possible Olympic comeback have come to an end, she credits OnlyFans with saving her life.

"When I stopped skating I was in a pretty dark place.  I had lost my house and was working three jobs at the time," Christie told Nottinghamshire Live.

"One of my jobs was at the airport and that was three in the morning until about 10 in the morning and then I would go straight to the other one, and the days that I didn't have those I had another as a waitress."

"I felt like, how did I go from being a world champion to just having nothing?"

Christie was hesitant at first about joining the platform after people on Instagram suggested that she create an account.  Her initial thoughts on OnlyFans were, "It's not for me, it's not who I am."

Then she did some digging into the platform and decided to give it a shot.  She's been learning as she goes and has become more comfortable interacting with her fans on the platform.

Elise Christie's Decision To Join OnlyFans Turned Her Life Around

Christie isn't just on the platform slinging "exclusive" content, the 10-time world champion also connects with her fans there as well.

"A lot of people just use it to engage with me and my life, learn more about it and what went on and question me about sport and fitness.  I use it as engagement for fans that have been with me for a long time," she said.

"Once you learn it and understand it, you are using it in the way that you are comfortable with, you're not forced into things or doing things you don't want to do, you can use it in the way you want to use it.  I have had a lot of negativity as well, but at the end of the day, it kind of saved my life at one point as I had nothing."

Christie was on top of the world as a medal winning speed skater before being left to fend for herself once the bright lights of her Olympic dream faded.  She's been able to get back on her feet and more.

She's now working on becoming a personal trainer and hopes to open her own gym.  She added, "I would never have got to this place without OnlyFans, because working the three jobs, I just didn't have a life.  I had been left with no life basically from being this skater."

Although she says she's not going to be competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics, she is planning on returning to speed skating competitions next year, including the world championships, after rediscovering her love of the sport.
