Flyers & Devils Fans Trade Punches During Wild Brawl In The Stands With One Fan Being Tossed Several Rows
The smell and intensity of playoff hockey is in the air. There are still a handful of NHL teams fighting for a playoff spot before the first-round arrives on Saturday.
One of those teams is the Philadelphia Flyers. They welcomed the New Jersey Devils and a few of their fans to the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The team delivered a 1-0 win over the Devils and are currently tied with the Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings for the Eastern Conference's second wild card spot.
The importance of the game wasn't lost on Flyers fans. They came ready for action and that meant if they had to throw hands with Devils fans, they were prepared to throw hands with Devils fans.
One Jersey fan found this out the hard way during a wild brawl that saw him taking shots from all directions before being tossed down a few rows of seats. We'll probably never know what set this all off, but it's safe to assume the Flyers fans in the entire section weren't fans of this guy.
The action picks up with the Devils fan already tangled up with a couple of Flyers fans. Then, out of nowhere, a man from another row starts throwing bombs before security makes it over to break things up.
A Devils Fan Is Tossed Several Rows During This Wild Brawl With Flyers Fans In Philly
The punches momentarily stop and security starts escorting the Devils fan involved out of the area. From the looks of it, the fight is over and the Philly faithful are going to go back to enjoying the rest of the game.
Not so fast. The guy from a couple of rows away who came from nowhere early on in the action to deliver punches had other plans. He wasn't finished with the Devils fan just yet.
While security was escorting the Devils fan out of the area, the guy from a couple of rows away popped back up to grab the Devils fan from behind and toss him a few rows down the stands.
The Devils fan was unfazed by the unplanned relocation and exacted some revenge on the man who had earlier gotten off several free shots. It's at this moment, after a quick round two, that security is finally able to get control of the situation.
That's what playoff level hockey looks like right there. If you want to play for it all you have to be willing to do some fighting in the stands sometimes.
The Flyers finish the season at home against the Capitals for what is promising to be a huge regular season finale.
