Fight On A Bronx Golf Course Sends One Golfer To The Hospital & The Other To Jail

With the warmer weather comes more weekend golfers heading out to the course.  This inevitably leads to fights between those who take things way too seriously on the golf course.

Sometimes that results in a Boomer teaching a member of Gen Z some respect.  Other times, the lessons go the other way, with the younger generation dishing out a lesson of their own.

This is one of those unfortunate events where the lesson went too far and ended up landing the older golfer - who doesn't have the chin he used to - in the hospital.  The younger golfer was rewarded for his efforts with a free trip to jail.

It all went down last Saturday afternoon at the Pelham Bay & Split Rock Golf Courses in the Bronx.  A FOX 5 employee happened to be at the course when things went sideways and captured some of the action on camera.

The employee said the fight between a 49-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, later identified as Charles Costello, resulted in the older man having CPR performed on him.

A distraught Costello could be seen on video saying, "I just hit him back.  I didn't know I was hitting so hard."  Obviously, things had gone too far even for him.

Another Day At The Golf Course Ruined For At Least Two Golfers

The 49-year-old man was then transported, according to police, by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition.  The younger man was arrested and charged with assault.

With no details as to what led up to the altercation, it's hard to say which one of them was the golfer who took things way too seriously and started what was likely an argument that escalated.

What is clear is that when you play stupid games you go home with stupid prizes.  The weekend golf warriors have to remember why they're on the golf course in the first place.

It's not to work your way up to the professional ranks, it's to ignore your family for an entire day.

When things start to get heated on the course, try to stop and think at least I'm not at home with my nagging wife and my annoying kids.
