FBI Brutally Roasted Over Picture Choice For Tweet About Theft
The FBI was lit up on social media after a truly stunning Monday tweet.
The FBI tweeted an image of two young white women stealing and robbing a store in an attempt to address theft. The two women looked like the most harmless people on the planet as they attempted to rob the place.
What exactly are these two women doing? Participating in retail theft and more, which the FBI describes as follows:
"Organized Retail Theft (ORT), also known as Organized Retail Crime (ORC), is the large-scale theft of retail merchandise with the intent to resell the stolen items for financial gain. ORT may involve a criminal enterprise that employs a group of individuals to steal large quantities of merchandise from multiple stores. These ORT groups maintain or utilize fencing operations to convert the stolen goods into cash.
…
As defined above, ORT involves highly sophisticated coordinated thefts at retail establishments.
Comparatively, Smash and Grab is a form of retail theft that involves smashing a barrier, usually a display in a store, to grab valuables. Key elements include the use of speed and surprise.
Flash Mob or Flash Rob is a form of shoplifting that occurs when an organized group, usually teenagers wearing similar articles of clothing to conceal their identities, select a specific retail store to rob at the same time. Flash robs usually target high-end stores."
FBI roasted for tweet about retail theft.
Do two tiny women really come to mind when you think about flash mobs terrorizing businesses? Of course not, and that's the exact point many made as the tweet was ruthlessly dragged.
Check out some of the reactions below, and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com:
I've seen my fair share of robberies over the years, and not a single one was ever carried about by two petite, attractive young women. If they were, the situations would be a lot less threatening and dangerous. Does either of those women weight a pound over 125?
More than anything, the tweet and the reaction are reminders of just how crazy things are getting. The FBI is sending viral tweets accusing young ladies of being responsible for smash and grabs.
Nobody is buying it and the reactions make that clear. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
