Eminem Returns To Old Ways With New Song: Mocking Transgenders, Cancel Culture And More

Eminem is back.

The now 51-year-old-rapper (how?!) surprised the music world yesterday when he released his brand new song and music video for "Houdini," the first single from his upcoming "The Death of Slim Shady" album. Immediately, the song began trending everywhere as older fans are likening it to the early days of Eminem - where he would make fun of anyone and everyone with his arrogant, non-PC sense of humor in which he pretty much came across as the original troll.

Those were Em's glory days - before he then became a recluse and cut himself off from the rest of the world, only to sporadically pop up here and there again to release political anti-Trump songs or engage in weird rap off's with Machine Gun Kelly which was the ultimate cringe.

In less than 24 hours, Eminem's ‘Houdini’ music video had over 19 million views on YouTube alone.

EMINEM IS READY TO OFFEND EVERYONE

Embracing his "Slim Shady" alter ego in which he historically goes right at people and is much more provocative, Em - whose real name is Marshall Mathers, raps about everything.

Transgenders:

"My transgender cat’s Siamese/ Identifies as Black, but acts Chinese"

Megan Thee Stallion and rumors she fabricated being shot in the foot:

"If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me, would I really have a shot at a feat?"

R. Kelly by using a carefully placed pun:

"In the coupe, leaning back my seat/ Bumpin' R. Kelly's favorite group, the Black guy pees"

And of course, his family:

"F*** my own kids, they're brats,"

And just like all things in 2024, Mathers has faced the divisive world of social media outrage - with some furious at him while others are telling people to understand he's joking and trolling around. I mean this is the same guy that dressed as Osama Bin Laden in a music video dancing in a cave at the height of the response to the 9-11 attacks and Afghanistan / Iraq War. Britney Spears, Carson Daly, his own mom - Eminem doesn't hold back, for right or wrong. He even rapped about Christopher Reeves being in a wheelchair!

Here's a visual representation of his lyrics in his 2nd verse, where he rips kids getting Participation Trophies and the hysteria he knows he's about to cause.

LEBRON JAMES, OTHER CELEBS FLOCK TO EMINEM'S SIDE

"The Death of Slim Shady" album is a return of Eminem working with Dr. Dre - as the two built an empire of massive hits in the late 90's and 00's together.

Celebrities are showing their support for this next era of Eminem, the Houdini music video features Pete Davidson, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and even comedian Shane Gillis - who was "canceled" for years after inappropriate jokes only to return and host SNL this past season in pretty hilarious fashion (although not all would agree).

Not one to let anything popular happen without being a part of it, LeBron James had to tweet that he likes the new Eminem as well.

With ‘Houdini,' Eminem is playing on fan's nostalgia - sampling and even busting out the same superhero costume that he wore in his massive 2002 song "Without Me." He then plays homage to his own nostalgia - drawing upon 20 years earlier by incorporating Steve Miller's "Abracadraba" track.

Between Netflix's Roast of Tom Brady and the potential return of Eminem before he became weird and irrelevant, are we about to experience another step towards the end of political correctness? Historically, comedy and music have been the dominant means for free expression - it will be interesting to see just how far Eminem is willing to move the lines, and who follows next.
