Emily Elizabeth Is Ready For An Early Spring, John Daly On Securing The Border & Jeff Bezos Wears Air BBQs
Global warming is the best thing to ever happen to NW Ohio
Do you know how many times this winter I was miserable to the point where I was seconds away from pulling the trigger on Florida airfare? Like once in January when it was like 10-below and there was a half-inch of snow on the ground.
Then February came around and it has been one of the greatest winter months in the recorded history of this part of the United States. We've hade 0.4 INCHES of snow in February and it melted the next morning. Yes, that will be an all-time record since the weather guys started keeping track back in the 1800s.
And it hasn't rained.
Now we're about to end the month with sunroof weather and I didn't spend thousands to fly the family to Florida to escape the typical weather hell associated with this area.
I never thought I'd live long enough into the global warming era to where it's entirely possible to hear lawnmowers firing up in late February, but it's entirely possible. We have guys around here with late-dropping leaves that need chopped up, but you know what that means –- yep, the Facebook Karens will be out screaming about how you're killing the bats (Mrs. Screencaps told me they live under the leaves and I'm not about to argue with her this morning) and insects living under the leaves in gardens.
Just imagine the fury going through the Save the Bees crowd when they see these temps.
Will NYC be the new Bud Light?
• Franco writes:
As someone who won't vote for either Trump or Biden, I could actually see this happening.
Kinsey:
I haven't been to NYC in a few years. How are things these days? The last time I was there for work was near the end of the de Blasio era and the city was a mess. It was undeniable that the city had gone through stark changes with homeless everywhere, stores closing up, empty streets.
Someone update me on how things are these days.

Sam, the Dawgs fan who was on Mardi Gras floats two weeks ago, is on the move again

So, I just flew to Bucharest from Atlanta with a 3-hour layover in Istanbul. I'm here for the week.
If I remember, I'll take some pics. Subjects will include: Some food. Some buildings. No special t-shirts since this neck of the woods don't take kindly to such humor.
Istanbul's airport has this huge mall. High-end jewelry and fashion. But there is a Carl's Jr, and Starbucks to bring it down in class. Also, some fad meme has a restaurant here.
Bucharest: Not sure I will get to have tourism time. From the hotel I took this pic of the second largest building in the world. Its their parliament building. (The church on left is actually a few blocks in front. The same building color makes it look like they are together.)
Today's lunch was at Dristor Doner Kebap - think it as fast casual burrito did shawarma instead. Check out the big meat spitz.
Kinsey:
Before you ask, I do not know what Sam L. does for a living. He might've told me, but I don't seem to remember anything about running weapons or working for the CIA. Some readers will give me enough hints about what they do that I know it's best to shut up, keep them anonymous and go about my business.
I'm not talking hit men or anything like that. The last thing I need is for the FBI – we've had some of them as readers – calling me.
Anyway, Sam L. is in Romania "doing work."
We'll leave it at that.

This one is for Mrs. Screencaps. Spent weekend hosting an exhibit at the Vintage Computer Festival in Orange, Calif. Joe Decuir, one of the Atari engineers who designed the 2600 console, stopped by. (He was sporting his UW hat as he teaches at Washington now.)
Kinsey:
Looks like I need to get my Mac clamshell up and running again. I just did a Google search and learned they're going for $600.
Mrs. Screencaps enjoyed Top Gun: Maverick but she needed closure
• Chris in NE writes:
Totally get where Mrs. Caps is coming from regarding Kelly McGillis and I understand her annoyance. From everything I've read, she didn't want to be in the sequel. I thought the move bringing in Penny Benjamin--who gets mentioned in the first one in a throwaway line by Goose was great (it's the scene where Maverick/Goose get informed they are going to Top Gun). It also helped that Jennifer Connelly still looks absolutely incredible.
Things you see in Monaco on a Monday in February
• Mike T. & Cindy T. were out getting their steps in Monday and sent this report:
In front of the Monte Carlo casino : Mercedes, Lamborghini, three Bentleys and of course, a Ferrari.
Mike also added a harbor shot to show some of the fishing boats:
• Mike T. adds
Socca is a chickpea flour pancake that’s a signature dish in Nice.
World travelers Adam & Kerri in Cabo sent their very first official dispatch
You might remember Adam and Kerri as the couple in Cabo a couple of weeks ago who took a vicious SHOT at Mike T. and Cindy T. I challenged Adam and Kerri to tell me about their own travels around the world.
A&K delivered, but I want to give them the floor on Wednesday morning. I wanted to lead out this morning with the big news on global warming, so they go first tomorrow.
Greg B. man cave garage-o-minium advice
Greg B. in suburban Dayton, OH has filled in some details as to what he'll be using his new space for:
Answers to your questions:
1.) Yes, I love cars. I would call my taste BaT eclectic. Would love to some day own a '64 Lincoln Continental convertible resto-mod. There's something about a suicide door drop that does it for me. That said, I've only purchased 1 toy car which was a 1984 Rabbit GTI with 17k miles. After owning it a couple of years, I sold it back to the guy I bought it from. I'm really conservative so I struggle with putting money into depreciating assets.
I was really into bikes (Italian twins) for 25 years but then fatherhood came and so I needed to set that aside for a family activity which turned out to be boating.
2.) First two projects I have planned for the garage are restoration of my Dad's 1965 Cub Cadet 100 and finishing my 'Rona Smoker 2.0. Will probably tackle the Cub first since 'Rona Smoker 1.0 (built during the Corona virus pandemic hence the name) still works great. The Cub runs great but has gearbox/clutch issues and needs new paint after nearly 60 years of faithful and reliable service.
3.) Yes, fridge, 65" HDTV, sound system, and sofa are all in the plan. I've got a pool table in my basement where it will remain. I don't want to chew up valuable space with something that is difficult to move. My boat is going to chew up about 30% the garage.
If you are ever in my neck of the woods, reach out. I'd enjoy meeting you and showing you what I've got going on.
• Ryan M. writes:
I’d recommend no to a pool table but absolutely get a dart board. Darts are more fun for more people and takes up hardly any space. Its just a small section on the wall and a piece of tape on the floor…
• Keith writes:
Just wanted to provide input on Greg's garage. You mentioned a pool table, but considering the long wall, I'd think of putting in a shuffleboard table. Those are long, but don't take up much room to play like a pool table.
I'm jealous of Greg's garage... maybe not the specific garage itself, just that his dream is coming true. Congrats to him! I'm looking forward to my dream coming true, but that's years away and I'm not even sure what it is. Enjoy, Greg!
• Dave in Rhode Island writes:
Greg, I would strongly suggest sealing up that concrete floor prior to loading up your garage. It'll be way easier to clean up spills and resist stains that will definitely occur.
As far as an on-line garage community, of course it exists! If you haven't already, head over to garagejournal.com for like-minded individuals - tons of info and advice from good people. Good luck, and color me jealous!
OutKick out of focus photos
• Chris H. in NC writes:
Not to sound like a broken record but maybe if your bosses hear it enough they’ll make some changes:)
The photos on Screencaps header are always out of focus (see screenshot). And I’ve tried it with Safari and Chrome.
And the layout once opened with all the ads still sucks. Sorry but if your friends won’t tell you, who will!
Kinsey:
I hear you, Chris. I hear the others I've tried to work with on solutions. I'm not going to lie, there for about 10 days I ignored all of the complaints because it was either saving my sanity or finding a new line of work.
Those 1 & a ¼ days of vacation and not looking at emails did wonders for my sanity.
Now we're now compiling a deeper list of items that need cleaned up. This one has been forwarded to the team. I'm also hearing from those of you who still can't get the IGs to load after "Numbers from."
That issue was passed to the team on Monday.
If you guys send in issues, please give me as many details as possible on the device you're using, the browser, where you're visiting screencaps from (Twitter link, Facebook, homepage, etc.).
Squeeze the consumer just a little bit more why don't you?

That's it, I'm ready to roll this morning. Readers have sent in some incredible tips, so today should be fun. I'm covering a Kentucky wedding. I'll leave it at that.
The sun is out. You're happy. I'm happy over global warming. We're going to have a great day. Now go be productive.
