Elizabeth Hurley Hops Into A Bikini & Rubs In Sunscreen, Paige VanZant Flinched, Plus Presidential Handicaps

It's Saturday morning, baseball games are rained out and it's about to rain again, so let's get through this post before I go find something to do around the house

Let's start with Paige VanZant's Power Slap debut last night in Las Vegas. I'm not an expert on this slapping stuff, but I've seen enough clips to know that the person about to get slapped is supposed to keep his/her head still for full impact.

You tell me: Did Paige flinch here? Internet experts say she flinched on four slaps. To my amateur eyes, I see a flinch, but I'm willing to be told I'm an idiot and she didn't foul by sensing impact and turning out of it.

  • I'm pretty impressed by the numbers on this tweet, but here's where I have to tell you that ‘Likes’ doesn't equal followers. 23.5k ‘Likes’ and I've probably picked up 30 followers.
  • I'm not sure what it is about our garage and baby animals this summer. A few weeks ago, we had a baby squirrel that holed up under Mrs. Screencaps' grocery getter and then last night the boys and I discovered a baby bird that had trapped itself in the garage with the door down. It took 15 minutes to get the bird to go fly free amongst the other birds. He/she just wanted to chill in the garage like it was a giant cage.
  • Remember when it was 100 for like 10 days across the Midwest in mid-June? The weather guy literally said we're going to be in the 40s for morning lows on Monday, JULY 1. I've never been so frustrated with a July 1 forecast. Give me heat. Give me patio nights.
  • For some reason, I thought last night was a good time to buy more packs of baseball cards. The only autograph out of a 2024 Bowman Mega Box was from 18-year-old Adrian Santana, who is playing in the Single-A Carolina League where he's batting .211. Come on, kid, make me rich! Santana was two when I started my Internet career. Now I'm starting to feel old.

Is this an old man yelling at the clouds or would this man know a little something about the sport?

"We've asked them to go as fast, and as hard as you can," Smoltz told Dan Dakich on Friday, just minute before I broke down the Week in Instagram Models during my own appearance on Dakich.

Remember earlier in the week when I shared my observations from 13U travel baseball where the kids were throwing as fast and as hard as they could before tiring out just a couple of innings into the game?

What's the solution here?

Parking spots you'll never forget

In 2008 we went to a Green Bay Packers preseason game. My father has been a fan of the Packers since before Vince Lombardi (Green Bay drafted Paul Hornung #1 in the 1957 draft and that's been his team ever since) and so we drove up there after getting tickets from a friend. While waiting in line to park, a guy walks up to our car and asks if we would like a free parking pass. He gives us the pass and says we need to get in a different line - we drove right up to the stadium and parked in the front row. It was the first preseason game for Aaron Rodgers as a starter. We took a photo as we started the tailgate. My dad is on the far left sitting on the bumper.

The Screencaps red, white and blue project in honor of 4th of July week

I want you guys to keep your head on a swivel over the next 5-7 days. Show me the red, white and blue you're seeing in your life.

One of our very own finally popped the question & she said ‘yes’

During our Friday morning Zoom, Hook made it crystal clear that he would be going "dark" during Friday afternoon. In true Hook fashion, he made it sound like he was going off on some sort of mission.

It turns out it was a true mission for the rest of his life. The Culture Dept. couldn't be happier for the happy couple.

That's it this morning. My mother is coming to town. Her birthday was Thursday, so we'll celebrate a little bit today. The bad news is that she's not going to see the boys play baseball for the second time this season. She was here in May and Opening Day was rained out. Here we are on the last weekend of the regular season and it's rained out.

Let's go have an incredible weekend. I know so many of you are on vacation. Enjoy. Hopefully Screencaps will be on your reading agenda as you sit in those camp chairs.

Take care.
