Eiza Gonzalez Says She Missed Out On Movie Roles Because She's 'Too Hot,' Thought About Shaving Her Head
The curse of being too hot has struck again. We've seen everyone from influencers, to models, and even doctors have to deal with the burden of being too hot. What if I told you that actresses aren't immune from having to deal with all that's associated with being too hot?
That sounds counterintuitive, but it's not. In a world where up is down and left is right, Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez is here to tell us that you can be too hot for a movie role. She has firsthand knowledge of this, having lived through it more than once.
The "too hot" rejection had the 34-year-old considering taking drastic measures, including shaving her head to make herself less attractive. Nobody wants that. That would be a crime against humanity.
"I remember being [told for] so many projects, ‘She’s too pretty for the role. She’s too hot for the role,’" Gonzalez told InStyle. "Then I’d just be like, ‘What is Margot Robbie? She’s the hottest, most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life!’"
As you can imagine, being told you're too hot can take a toll on a person, especially an actress. This left Gonzalez confused about how to proceed. Did she need to ugly herself up, or lean into being hot.
"I had an identity crisis for a very long time," she revealed. "I was like, ‘Do I shave my head? Do I make myself less attractive? Do I make myself more attractive? Do I not dress super-hot or do I dress super-hot or do I cover myself all the time?’"
Eiza Gonzalez Isn't Going To Let Being Hot Slow Her Down
I think, while most of us haven't been told we're too hot for anything, we can relate to the decision of having to choose between the less attractive and more attractive paths.
Thankfully, Gonzalez didn't shave her head or decide to go down the less attractive path. She stuck to her guns and remained attractive - some might say too hot for movie roles.
"I’m living all the feelings I want to live," she explained of her career. "I’m ridden with fear, but I welcome the fear. It’s the only time in my life that the fear feels friendly."
Now that's a solid approach. Whoever turned her down for being too hot for a role should be permanently kicked out of the movie industry.
We don't need them responsible for casting movies, it's obviously a task they can't handle. For her part, Gonzalez knows better days are ahead.
"Every time that something tragic happens to me, I never complain about it. Because every single time that something really tragic has happened, something amazing has happened right afterwards."
Some haters might say that the reason Gonzalez missed out on movie roles has nothing to do with how hot she is. They might say that it has more to do with her ability, or lack thereof, to act.
To them I say, that's an argument for another day. There could be endless variables that could or could not be at play. All we know for sure is that Eiza Gonzalez says she was told she was too hot for several movie roles.
That's absurd. It should never happen, and we need to see more of her, not less on the big screen.
