Dutch Model: I'm Still Single After Receiving 5,000 Boyfriend Applications & Weeding Out The Weirdos

A Dutch model with a large social media following is going back to the drawing board after she swung for the fences last year in an attempt to land herself a boyfriend and came up empty.

Vera Dijkmans put together a "boyfriend application" for her followers to shoot their shot with and received roughly 5,000 responses.  She then weeded through all the weirdos, went on a few dates, and found herself still single when all was said and done.

Despite the overwhelming response to her application process, Vera says she had just three viable candidates.  Unfortunately, none of them turned out to be boyfriend material.

"I’d say I received around 5,000 applications but after going through most of them, I found just three guys who I thought were suitable," Vera, who currently calls London home, told Need To Know.

"I went on a date with them – but I’m currently still single."

Now this realization could discourage some.  It hasn't done that for Vera, who churns out content on a regular basis for millions of followers across multiple social media platforms.

The fact that she didn't land a boyfriend doesn't mean she considers the experiment a failure.  Although narrowing down the field required some work.

Dutch Model Still Single

"I had to filter through quite a lot of strange applications.  One man offered to send me a sample of his blood and asked for mine in return – which I ignored," Vera continued.

"I also had a famous person slide into my DMs; I can’t say who it is but I definitely didn’t expect it!  Most of the applicants were from Texas and a lot of them had the Aquarius star sign."

If you missed out on shooting your shot through her boyfriend application, you're going to have to let her know you're interested in person now.  She's taking her hunt for Mr. Right to the real world.

"I wouldn’t do another application process online," Vera, who has never had a long-term boyfriend, admitted.  "If I do it again, I will probably make it a real life event."

Vera's boyfriend search is currently on hold, although she's keeping her options open should someone that meets her very high standards comes along.

"I’m just very picky and I need a guy to be almost perfect," she said.  "I don’t think I should have to compromise on my needs – I’d rather be single until I find the man I’m meant to be with."

Good luck to Vera as she navigates the perspective boyfriend waters and good luck to anyone who thinks he's the almost perfect guy of the Dutch model's dreams.  Making it happen isn't as easy as submitting a normal boyfriend application any longer.
