Dubai Princess Announces On Instagram Divorce From Husband She Says Is Cheating
The United Arab Emirates was rocked this week by a divorce announcement on social media by a Dubai princess. She dropped a "Dear Husband" post on her fellow royal and tossed out what appear to be accusations of an affair in the brief message.
Many thought Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's account had been hacked when the announcement appeared on Thursday. That doesn't appear to be the case.
The 30-year-old daughter of Dubai ruler and United Arab Emirates Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum hasn't deleted the post. In fact, she went a step further and scrubbed her husband Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum from her account.
Mahra's message, in which she went triple repudiation on his ass, read, "I divorce you, I divorce you, and I Divorce You. Take care. Your ex-wife."
This Dubai Princess Isn't Putting Up With Extramarital Affairs
Triple repudiation is an Islamic divorce practice where a husband pronounces three repudiations immediately, making the divorce absolute and preventing the couple from remarrying.
I don't think it works the same when a woman does it. That doesn't mean Mahra didn't get her point across with the post.
Would she have been firing off such a public announcement on social media if she wasn't a princess whose father is a ruler? Who knows? The fact is, she is a princess with a ruler for a father, so she did fire it off.
It's obvious that she's done, and she's ready to put an end to their marriage. The two tied the knot last May and welcomed a daughter just two months ago.
There's no keeping this princess with more than 760k Instagram followers in a marriage with a cheating husband. Royalty or not, it's not going to happen. She's 30 and comes from a family worth an estimated $18 million.
Firing off an announcement, then doing the whole social media scrub are the first steps in moving on from her husband and his "other companions." Something tells me Mahra will be just fine.
