Donald Trump Shares Incredibly Blunt Thoughts On Getting Shot

Donald Trump opened up in detail about being shot, and he knows he's lucky to still be breathing.

The former President and current favorite to win in November was shot by Matthew Thomas Crooks during a Saturday rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The bullet hit him in the ear and came within millimeters of being a fatal shot to the head. There's no question that he's lucky to be alive, and Trump seems to know it.

Donald Trump reflects on being shot.

"The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle," the former President and 2024 frontrunner told the New York Post ahead of the RNC in Milwaukee.

Trump also clearly understands the fact that he's unbelievably lucky and there's no question that it's a miracle he survived.

"I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead. I’m supposed to be dead," the Republican leader further told the New York Post.

As for the photo of Trump hitting the crowd with a fist bump after taking a bullet to the ear, he correctly thinks it's simply iconic.

"A lot of people say it’s the most iconic photo they’ve ever seen. They’re right and I didn’t die. Usually you have to die to have an iconic picture. I just wanted to keep speaking, but I just got shot," the billionaire real estate mogul said while reacting to the photos.

Trump also explained the now-famous moment where he said he wanted to grab his shoes after getting shot in the ear. He revealed that the power of being taken to the ground resulted in his shoes flying off.

"The [Secret Service] agents hit me so hard that my shoes fell off, and my shoes are tight," he told the New York Post while smiling.

As for the Secret Service's performance once bullets started flying, Trump had nothing but praise for the team around him, especially the snipers.

"They took him out with one shot right between the eyes. They did a fantastic job. It’s surreal for all of us," the former President explained to the outlet.

Crooks was killed by counter snipers shortly after opening fire.

As I've said multiple times, it's truly incredible that Donald Trump is still alive and was only nicked. A quarter of an inch inward and the world we're living in today might be unrecognizable to many people.

An absolute tragedy of the worst kind was narrowly avoided. I can't even put into words just how fortunate Trump is that he turned his head when he did.

God bless all the brave USSS who sprung into action to save Trump's life and end the threat. It's terrifying just how close Trump came to losing his life, and now the process of moving forward is underway. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
