Don Lemon Says Elon Musk Canceled His Partnership With X Following 'Tense' Interview

In January, Elon Musk and X announced a partnership with former CNN host Don Lemon to air a forthcoming podcast on the social media service. 

We called the partnership a "win for free speech," despite Lemon's slimy nature. 

Whether you agree with Lemon's political opinions or not, a free speech platform is better if both Lemon and those at the opposite end of the spectrum are free to express their opinions. 

On Wednesday, Lemon posted on social media that Musk terminated the partnership following a "tense" interview between the two last Friday.

We caution that Musk has not responded to Lemon's comments, as of publication. Musk's version of the story is likely different from Lemon's. 

We expect that Musk will post his side of the story shortly. Plus, taking Don Lemon at his word is always a questionable proposition. 

Still, Elon Musk is erratic. His decisions are spontaneous. But, to his credit, he often reverses course upon user complaints – such as not airing the Daily Wire's "What is a Woman?" documentary amid pressure from sponsors.

So, don't be surprised if Musk tries to rework a deal with Don Lemon. We hope he does.

Lemon says the new show, aptly titled "The Don Lemon Show," will still debut next Monday on YouTube and X (sans an official partnership with the service).

No matter the success of the show, Lemon recently cashed out for $24.5 million in a separation agreement with CNN, which fired him in 2023.
