Crowd Goes Nuts For Donald Trump At UFC 302
Former president Donald Trump had his first night on the town since being convicted on 34 charges of falsification of business records in the first degree.
It was already known that the former president would be in attendance for UFC 302 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. However, it remained to be seen how the crowd would react to Trump.
Meh, not really. I think we all expected the crowd to go nuts for No. 45, and that's what they did.
Trump was flanked by UFC boss Dana White — a buddy of his — and was led to some primo seats right by the octagon. He also got a big, hearty handshake from Joe Rogan.
Making his first public appearance since the highly publicized trial at a UFC was a smart move by Trump. He's known to be a big MMA fan and has been to a bunch of events over the years, including one last November at which he entered the arena alongside Kid Rock and Tucker Carlson.
While this was Trump's first outing since the verdict was read, he has still been out as much as he could with the trial going on.
He held rallies in places like Wildwood, New Jersey, and the Bronx that drew tens of thousands of supporters and even swung by the Coca-Cola 600 last weekend.
There is still a lot of time before the 2024 election which means plenty can happen that could sway the outcome one way or the other.
But following Trump's trial, the early returns seem to be that it didn't hurt his support in the least. In some ways, it may have even galvanized it.
Again, we'll have to see how things shake out at the polls in about five months, but for now, there's no question that Donald Trump is still very popular at UFC events, unlike his 2024 rival.
