A Couple's Attempt To Join The Mile High Club Goes Sideways, Forces An Emergency Landing
Not everyone attempting to join the Mile High Club is as lucky as the birthday boy who was gifted the experience of a lifetime last year by a stranger he met mid-flight.
Some exit the bathroom needing medical attention, not receiving a standing ovation as the birthday boy did during his adventure. Rock star couple Ruby and Josi fall into the select group needing medical attention.
The hairspray enthusiasts who are all in on the rock star lifestyle - complete with the feather boa - attempted to join the exclusive club, and it went horribly wrong.
They talked about their "Mile High Mishap" on an episode of Sex Sent Me to the ER. The couple snuck off for their once in a lifetime experience in the middle of a world tour on a public flight.
According to Josi, the turbulence and lack of space made joining the Mile High Club more difficult than they had planned. At one point, the hot water got turned on and started running down her butt.
Not exactly the good time at 30,000 feet they were expecting. Then things took a turn thanks to Ruby's signature feather boa and people knocking on the door.
"I had my boa on, my signature boa and I usually double wrap it," he explained. "So I don't just wear it as a scarf. What I do is, I wrap it around my neck like this, so it looks like there's two of them."
All Things Considered This Mile High Club Attempt Could Have Gone Even Worse
That's when the commotion of their attempt at becoming Mile High Club members and the people knocking on the door caused Josi to accidentally bump into the flusher of the toilet.
Unfortunately for Ruby, his feather boa ended up getting sucked down with the flush, making for a dicey situation thanks to the fact that he had double wrapped it around his neck.
He was essentially being choked by the toilet. "My throat hurt so bad," Ruby explained. "I really felt like I was going to die."
His difficulty breathing along with the pain forced the plane to make an emergency landing. He then ended up in the emergency room where it was determined that Ruby had a partially fractured hyoid bone and was having an anxiety attack.
In short, he almost died trying to join the Mile High Club. Not to worry, he made a full recovery and his days of wearing eyeliner, hairspray, and yes, feather boas are not behind him just yet.
