Costco New Leadership Promises That Hot Dog Combo Will Remain at $1.50

Despite what seems like everything going up in price around us, humans will still be able to count on Costco's hot dog combo to get us by.

Speaking with CNN, the giant retail store's CFO Gary Millerchip wanted to let shoppers know that the popular "$1.50 hot dog price is safe," at least for now.

The double-down promise came after there were reports that Costco might be raising the value meal that they've prided themselves on since a promise by the grocer's founders that the hot dog-soda combo wouldn't ever exceed $1.50. The rumors only grew after Costco's former CFO Richard Galanti resigned in March, which led to Millerchip and a new regime.

COSTCO $1.50 HOT DOG-SODA COMBO STARTED IN 1985

And in this day and age and current financial situation where everything is more expensive and going up in price (except American's paychecks!) you can understand why there has been some concern over the $1.50 price remaining!

It's a good move by Millerchip. Surely, he is familiar with former CEO Jim Sinegal threatening to kill new CEO Craig Jelinek if he ever raised the hot dogs prices during a 2018 interview.

"‘If you raise the effing hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out,’" Sinegal told him.

It looks like Millerchip and the top Costco brass enjoy living and don't want to mess around by jacking the price up. It's also a good move financially - if Costco does raise the combo price, you can be sure that there will be an online movement that will relentlessly rip them while others will cancel their Costco memberships out of sheer spite.

But for now, may you enjoy all your hot dog and soda lunches throughout your summer!
