Chick-fil-A Sauce Shortage Is Real & Rationing Has Begun
There was the toilet paper shortage. Now there's the gas shortage. There's supposedly a chicken shortage because roosters aren't doing their thing with hens. And now comes the most disturbing news of all: Chick-fil-A sauce rationing. Folks, this is the real deal. It's happening and the six-day-a-week operation has announced new sauce rules to prevent hoarding.
According to WTRF in Wheeling, West Virginia, customers have been hit with an email announcing sweeping new changes to the fil-A sauce experience due to the industry-wide sauce shortage.
For now, limits will include:
• 1 sauce per entree
• 2 sauces per meal
• 3 sauces per 30-count nuggets
As if a sauce shortage isn't enough to get your attention, in Milwaukee there is a real situation with a limited chicken wings supply. Local restaurants are having a hard time getting their hands on wings.
“We’ve had this problem in the past around Super Bowl time. It usually goes up a little bit. It’s never hit this price before. We’ve been actually losing money the last like month,” a tavern owner told WTMJ-Milwaukee.
The wing shortage put an end to 75-cent wing night at the tavern, and customers have been hit with order limits and price increases. It's gotten so crazy out there in wing land that the drums and flats are now being sold like seafood -- market price -- to keep up with a changing market where prices are fluctuating.
“Yes, supply is somewhat tight, but the sky certainly isn’t falling," a chicken industry insider told USA TODAY last week. “Chicken producers are doing everything they can to overcome the devastating impact of Mother Nature when she inflicted the once-in-a-lifetime winter storm on Texas and nearby states – major chicken producing regions.”
This shall pass, but should serve as a lesson to never get caught without a stockpile of drums from Costco and a Chick-fil-A sauce rotation that can get you through the dark times. Normally hoarding is just a selfish act, but these are unprecedented times and you don't want to get caught with five nuggs and no sauce. Think about that the next time you're throwing away unopened packs of that fil-A gold.
