Charles Barkley Offers Thoughts On Attempted Trump Assassination: ‘That Is Really F*cked Up'

Just hours after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, Charles Barkley took the stage in Lake Tahoe to wish the former President well.

Barkley is in Tahoe for the American Century Championship — an annual celebrity golf tournament. Beer in hand, the Hall of Famer took a few minutes on Saturday night to speak out against the political violence aimed at Trump.

"I don’t like to be too serious, but I gotta be serious for a second," Barkley said. "Something really sad happened today. Somebody tried to kill the President of the United States."

A gunman opened fire at a rally in Butler, Penn., on Saturday in an attempt to assassinate the former President. A bullet grazed Trump's ear, but the Secret Service was able to take out the shooter and rush the GOP nominee to safety. The shooting also left one spectator dead and others critically wounded.

"Now, that is really f*cked up," Barkley said. "I’m not going to get up here and act like I’m a Trump guy. But I want to say this, I wish President Trump health.

"Now I want to make it clear because I know by the time Fox News chops my sh*t up tonight, they’re gonna say I voted for him, but I want to wish him the best. We should not be trying to kill the President of the United States."

So even though Chuck isn't a "Trump guy," he doesn't think Joe Biden should be President, either. Just a few days ago, Barkley said it's time for Biden to withdraw from the race and "pass the torch" to the next generation.

And while he doesn't advocate for anyone trying to kill a presidential candidate, he's not exactly above political violence, either. Earlier this year, Barkley said that he would "punch" any black person he sees sporting merch with a Trump mugshot on it.

Might be time to reel in that rhetoric, Chuck.
