Canadian Woman Leaves Politics Behind To Become An Award-Winning Adult Star
Making the leap from a career in politics to adult entertainment isn't an easy one for most. But it's not impossible. In fact, one Canadian woman made it look easy after picking up multiple awards after her career change.
Her name is Coco Bae. She's known to her thousands of followers on social media as a three-time AVN award-winning performer, who is trying to add to her awards count as an Australian Adult Industry Awards nominee.
Call the 36-year-old an overachiever or someone who is trying to make up for lost time after deciding to get into the industry full-time a few short years ago. Prior to her current career, she was briefly a politician.
Coco was working for a political party, making phone calls asking for support and financial donations, called Members of the House of Assembly in a small town in Canada. Then out of nowhere she was thrown into the fire.
The party's candidate dropped out of the race prior to election day and a process of elimination turned her into the new head of the party.
"I wasn’t even prepared. I was thrown into the campaign. I was working on the phones and all of a sudden my boss arrived in a panic, saying that he desperately needed someone to put on the ballot, because the candidate dropped out," Coco told the Daily Star.
"He asked everyone to do it but they were all ineligible one way or another – either underage or they had a government job so it would be a conflict of interest. I was the only person in the room who was eligible. I was 20-years-old and scared. I wasn’t even entirely sure what the party was all about. What if I win the vote?"
Coco Bae Learned Early On That The World Of Politics Wasn't For Her
That was all the excitement Coco needed from politics. She didn't win and has never considered running for any kind of office again. Now she's concerning herself with racking up votes to win awards for her hard work.
Coco didn't immediately leave politics behind for the bright lights of the adult entertainment industry. She tried and failed at working in retail. It wasn't for her, and she kept getting demoted instead of working her way up and living the retail management dream.
That's when she got into bartending and working as a cocktail waitress. This led to a waitress job at a Montreal strip club, and before you know it, she was up on stage.
"I sold drinks there for a while, but one night got fed up over a cat fight of some sort, and had overheard the dancers complaining about only making $300 a night. I was fighting to make $300 a night," Coco said.
"I went to another club to get a job again, and when they said ‘you’re here to waitress.’ I said ‘no I want to dance.’ They had me on stage the following day. One thing leads to another."
What a ride. Coco went from leader of a political party, albeit by accident, to working in a strip club and she hasn't even landed the plane yet.
By 2017 she had launched an OnlyFans account, but only to post nudes. She moved to Australia and put her content creating on hold for a few years until 2021. Once back on the platform, she realized her true calling.
You guessed it, adult entertainment. Coco's been in that line of work for the last three years and just this past year feels like she's arrived. She explained, "This year I won three AVN awards, so I feel like I’ve finally made it!"
Now that's finding your calling and reaching the top of your craft. She followed her heart, and now she's financially set and has a flexible schedule to conquer all that life throws her way.
Coco's living the dream and is collecting the awards that go along with that.
