Caller Pranks BBC Radio 1 Host By Playing Sex Noises Live On-Air
Wednesday morning was anything but a typical morning for listeners of BBC Radio 1. Instead of being treated with a genius segment in which callers let you know that it's ten minutes until 10 am with a cowboy accent, they were greeted with a sex noises prank.
Some might consider it an upgrade over the regular scheduled programming, but host Greg James wasn't one of them. He considered the prank a death knell to the segment, brilliantly named "Cowboy Time."
James was joined by comedian Joe Lycett for the segment this morning when it went hilariously wrong. The segment, which takes place at 9:50 am, got off to a slow start when the caller, Lewis, didn't immediately respond to the host.
After some dead air, Lewis responds with "Hello… I'm Here." James, having no idea what was coming his way, was happy that Lewis had finally answered. He says in response, "You're here, but I've got a question. What time is it?"
Instead of using his cowboy accent when saying the word 10, as the game is normally played, Lewis plays some sex noises for the host and his listeners.
The sound plays for a couple of seconds before the call is dropped. James knew immediately that the prank had ended the segment and said, "Oh, ok. That's a shame. That is a shame."
He then joked to break the tension, "Do we call him again?"
The Sex Noise Prank Was Popular Among The Listeners
James and the rest of the show laugh it off before he returns to the reality that "Cowboy Time" was in all likelihood done for. "Well that buries it, doesn’t it? That's the end," he continued. "That's the end of ‘Cowboy Time’ as we know it. That's a fail. That's a huge fail."
James added, "Thanks a lot, Lewis, you ruined the party for everyone."
If a segment has to come to an unexpected end, a sex noise prank is the way to go. Listeners thoroughly enjoyed it and took to X to voice their support for the prank.
"Oh my god shout out to that guy who just got Radio 1 with the sex noise prank," a listener said.
"Lmaoooo who just played that girl moaning on Radio 1??," said another.
Another supporter of the prank reacted by saying, "Oh no someone just played the sex tape on Radio 1."
"I need to see an image of Greg James face when they got done with the porn noise live on radio 1," another listener added.
Again, if you need a way to kill a segment or create some social media buzz for your radio show, a sex noise prank is a solid option.
