Biden Refuses To Turn Down Hateful Rhetoric In Post-Assassination Attempt Interview

Joe Biden made one thing abundantly clear: he will not turn down the hateful rhetoric.

The president spoke to NBC host Lester Holt on Monday evening for his first interview since the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. Less than a minute in, Biden repeated the officially debunked Charlottesville hoax, in which Donald Trump was falsely quoted calling neo-Nazis and white supremacists "very fine people."

Holt did not correct Biden or provide viewers with a fact-check, detailing that Trump was referring to protesters and counterprotesters:

Not long after his first lie, Biden pivoted to another popular and debunked hoax: "bloodbath."

"How do you talk about the threat to democracy, which is real? When a president says things like, he says. Do you just not say anything, because it may incite somebody," Biden said. "Look, I, I've, I have not engaged in that rhetoric My, my, my opponent has engaged in that rhetoric. He talks about it to be a bloodbath if he loses, talking about how he's kind to forgive over and actually, I guess, suspend the sentences of all those who were arrested and sentenced to go to jail because of what happened in the Capitol" (emphasis added).

OutKick explained earlier that Trump warned during a rally in March that there would be a "bloodbath" of jobs in the automotive industry if Biden is re-elected – not a bloodbath of bodies.

The details, they matter.

Later, Holt pressed Biden on calls from Democrats for him to step down after he repeatedly lost his train of thought during the presidential debate in late June. Biden seemed offended that an interviewer would ask him such a question, responding by accusing the media of giving Trump a pass.

"Are you seeing what they saw?" asked Holt. "Moments of confusion."

"Why don't you guys ever talk about Trump?" Biden responded in a creepy whisper. "Where are ya?"

In case you hadn't noticed, the media has not given Trump a pass. In fact, the press has spent much of the past two years depicting Trump as Hitler and a "threat to democracy." More on that here.

NBC also shares common ownership with MSNBC, the most anti-Trump network on television. And the competition – between CNN and NBC itself – is quite stiff.

Well, anyway, Biden ended the interview by accusing Holt of asking the wrong questions for a second time:

For the record, Holt asked Biden about the attempted assassination of Trump, the election, and calls by Democrats for him to step down – the four biggest stories in the current news cycle.

It's unclear what exactly Biden would prefer an interviewer asks him. Any guesses?

As we detailed in a column on Monday, the leaders of a properly functioning nation would see the assassination attempt of a former U.S. president and current GOP candidate and immediately turn down the vile messaging for the sake of the entire nation. However, we are not a properly functioning nation. We are morally bankrupt. And it's a disgrace.

We saw that on display during Biden's interview with NBC --one drenched in mumbles, lies, and more incendiary rhetoric.

OutKick asked NBC why Lester Holt did not correct Biden on the "very fine people" and "bloodbath" hoaxes. The network had no comment.
