America Scrambles Fighter Jets To Intercept Russian And Chinese Bombers
Fighter jets were scrambled Wednesday to intercept multiple Chinese and Russian bombers.
Tensions remain high across the world amid multiple ongoing conflicts. Russia continues its war in Ukraine, the Middle East is one fire and China continues to eye a possible move on Taiwan.
When things are tense, you can bank on countries pushing the limits to see what they can get away with. That's exactly what happened Wednesday off the coast of Alaska.
Fighter jets scrambled to intercept Russian and Chinese bombers.
NORAD announced Wednesday that fighter jets were scrambled to intercept two Russian TU-95 and two Chinese H-6 bombers in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone.
"The Russian and PRC aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace. This Russian and PRC activity in the Alaska ADIZ is not seen as a threat, and NORAD will continue to monitor competitor activity near North America and meet presence with presence," NORAD announced in the statement.
Translation: The Chinese and Russians are testing the limits to see how the USA will respond.
While I don't fear the Chinese or Russians at all when it comes to air capabilities - our stealth technology crushes both - the fact that they're doing this right now is a sign they can sense some blood in the water.
America is currently embroiled in some domestic political turmoil amid President Joe Biden quitting the presidential race and Kamala Harris ascending to the top of the Democrat ticket.
It's almost certainly not an accident the Russians and Chinese decided to pull this stunt shortly before Joe Biden addressed the nation. They're seeing what they can get away with and how we'll react.
To make matters more interesting, Lucas Tomlinson reported it's the first time the two countries have flown a joint bomber patrol off the coast of Alaska.
Finally, there's something inherently cool about hearing that fighter jets have been scrambled. I always think of the movie "Sum of All Fears" after the nuclear explosion. It gets the adrenaline pumping. Just know this, the Chinese and Russians don't want an actual conflict with America. Our tech and military capabilities are in a different league than theirs, and they both know it. I believe the kids like to say mess around and find out! Neither likely has any interest in doing that. They just want to test the limits. What do you think about them scrambling fighters? Let me know at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
