Meet The Country Singer Fighting To Protect Women's Sports: VIDEO

Country music singer Alexis Wilkins wants to make sure women's spaces are protected.

I traveled Tuesday to the Our Bodies, Our Sports Summer Bus Tour in Washington, D.C. put on by the Independent Women's Forum.

The concept behind the tour is simple:

Women's sports should be protected from being ruined by bigger, stronger and faster men who claim to be female.

Country music singer Alexis Wilkins wants to protect women's sports and spaces.

During the event at The Bullpen, I was greeted by the national anthem performed by Wilkins. It was an impressive performance.

Naturally, I had to speak to her and figure out what motivated her to throw her support behind the event. During a brief interview, Wilkins made it clear she's dedicated to protecting women's sports and spaces.

"It is so much further than even sports. Sports are a huge issue keeping biological men out of women's sports. It's not only dangerous for women, it's dangerous in the locker room, it's dangerous on the field or in the pool or wherever you're competing against men. It's also just anti-common sense, and I think that's something everyone is working really hard to combat right now," Wilkins explained.

You can watch her full comments in the video below, and he hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

It's great to see someone who isn't afraid to take a stand for what they believe is right and try to make a difference along the way.

Admittedly, I wasn't familiar with Wilkins' music prior to Tuesday night, but she brought the house down a stunning national anthem performance.

She's also clearly not afraid to speak her mind and voice her support for protecting women. Wilkins has also made a name for herself in country music. The young singer earned more than a million streams "across key platforms" and currently has more than 41,000 followers on Instagram.

You can find her music on Spotify, and it's definitely worth checking out. Let me know your thoughts on her at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
