Tyson Fury Talks A Ton Of Smack To Deontay Wilder: 'I've Got Your Soul'

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has vowed to knock out Deontay Wilder in the first round of the third installment of their heavyweight rivalry.

During the Josh Taylor-Jose Ramirez telecast on ESPN on Saturday, Fury said that he had signed his contract, and ESPN reports Wilder has also finalized his side of the deal.

The 32-year-old boxer posted a video on Top Rank Boxing signing for the fight on Sunday. Fury’s latest contest with Wilder is now set for July 24, with Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium – the 65,000-capacity home of the NFL’s Raiders – the likely venue.

“Should we do it and put him out of his misery?” Fury asks in the video. “Crack the other side of his skull? Give him another shoulder injury, another bicep injury, a leg injury … the whole lot."

He jokes about getting out of it and going to find someone else to fight, but signs the contract and goes on to say:

"Wilder, the contract’s signed, you’re getting smashed. When I say smashed, I mean smash, smash, smash. You’re getting knocked out, end of, one round, you’re going, I’ve got your soul, your mojo, everything. I own you.”

Fury will receive 60% of the purse to 40% for Wilder, sources told ESPN.

The agreement comes six days after an independent arbitrator ruled that Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) was legally obligated for the third fight with Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs).

The arbitrator's ruling derailed negotiations between Fury and Anthony Joshua for an undisputed title fight in Saudi Arabia this summer, which Fury joked about in the video.

The article states both sides were on the verge of finalizing a deal before Monday's arbitration and discussions were limited regarding a potential "step-aside" fee to Wilder to make Fury-Joshua possible.

"Prior to the first fight in 2018 that ended in a draw, Wilder had knocked out all his previous opponents," ESPN reports. "Fury got off the canvas in the 12th round to escape his first defeat. In the 2020 rematch, Fury battered Wilder for a seventh-round TKO victory. Neither fighter has fought since the bout."
