Touchdown Scorer Props For The Big Game

49ers vs. Chiefs, 6:30 ET

49ers vs. Chiefs, 6:30 ET

The Super Bowl is only a week away and we are going to cover every single inch of it between all of the Outkick Bets writers. Okay, maybe not everything. However, this is, well, essentially the Super Bowl of sports betting. The NFL is king of ratings, news, and gambling, so this game with all of the different views and props available has a lot to talk about. In this article, I’ll take a look at touchdown scorer props for the game.

We can start with the 49ers scoring props. This team hasn’t looked very good in the postseason, but let’s take a look at the regular season to try and get some insight into the squad. Brock Purdy was able to toss 31 touchdowns this season, and he spread it around the field. Sam Darnold was able to put two touchdowns on the board as well, so receivers caught a total of 33 this season. Brandon Ayiuk, Deebo Samuel, and Christian McCaffrey all grabbed seven touchdowns and George Kittle got six. The 49ers were also very effective on the ground and found the endzone 27 times as a team. Of course, as you’d expect, McCaffrey led the way with 14 of them. Samuel got in there five times, and Purdy and backup back Elijiah Mitchell got two each as well. The Chiefs allowed 29 touchdowns to quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends. They have a very strong defense, but they are susceptible to the run. McCaffrey is listed at -210 to score a touchdown. I fully expect him to fulfill that, but you don’t need me to tell you "McCaffrey is great, the Chiefs defense can’t stop him." I do like Samuel to grab a touchdown in this game. Even though he is dealing with injury, I think Samuel is used in both the run game and the passing game. I’ll grab him to score at +135.

The Chiefs offense sucked for the majority of this season, but they have certainly turned it on in the playoffs. Travis Kelce has returned from the dead and caught three touchdown passes in the postseason. Rashee Rice looks like the receiver that Mahomes needed the full season (they still need to draft a good one, but that’s aside from the point). And, Isiah Pacheco is the best running back they’ve had since Kareem Hunt. Mahomes only threw for 27 touchdowns this season. He found Kelce for five, Rice for seven and McKinnon for four. Aside from that, he got eight other teammates to find a way to get into the endzone. I expect Kelce to have a tough time against the 49ers as they do a good job of protecting the field. Mahomes hadn’t been sacked in the first two playoff games before the Ravens got him last week. If the line gives him enough time, I think he finds ways to get Kelce and Rice the ball. The 49ers allowed 16 touchdowns to receivers this season, nine to running backs, and three to tight ends. The good thing is that if you are open, Mahomes will find you. Kelce is -120 to get a touchdown, but I’m not convinced he will find the endzone. I like Raice better in this one at +120. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is more of a deep threat, but if he gets behind the defense, he could score at +600.

Overall, there aren’t overwhelming favorites or anything that I think you should play. You could toss McCaffrey into a parlay, and I’d be willing to guess they will try to get him a touchdown, but playing it straight just isn’t worth the cost. I could see them being a bit sneaky and trying to use McCaffrey as a decoy in goal line situations though which opens up a chance for Purdy or Samuel or even Kyle Juszczyk to get into the end zone. I’ll grab Rice at +120 and Samuel at +135 for sure. If I sprinkle, it will be Purdy at +550 and Juszczyk at +1000.
